Question: Sir, one of your posters says, “The false is truer than the Truth”. Please explain.

Acharya Prashant: There has been an entire session of four hours on that. The video is there. It took me four hours to elucidate. (Laughingly)

It only means that which you call as false—this life—itself will open the gates to the Truth. Do not search for Truth elsewhere. Here, this, that is conventionally and traditionally regarded as false, worthless, nothing -‘O this illusory world of objects!’, as all the spiritual men are fond of saying—it is here that you will find what you are looking for. The false is truer than the Truth. The body is not false; the body is the gate to the Truth. And the gate is so close to the body, so close to the body, that you can even call the body as the Truth.

Now don’t let that mislead you. You just live as the body, so you will have to start from the body, for the simple obvious reason that we live as the body.

Anybody here who does not live as the body?

You start from there, right? Or, if you live in an idea, then start from the idea. And if you live as the pure Aatman, (laughter from audience) then let us worship you!

Kabir said it a thousand times—“Ghat ghat mein Raam”, what else was he saying?

‘Ghat’ is body, ‘Raam’ is Truth. In the material itself, you will find it. So, don’t disregard the material. Don’t be contemptuous towards it. You must be very open, very living, and offer no resistance to what you see. You offer resistance to it because you think that something more important is elsewhere. No, there is nothing more important and there is no other world. This is all that there is. This world is the only reality for you. So, you must know this world, and that is not difficult at all because you are already knowing; which means that everything is already at its proper place. Go home and relax! Or have fun—which again is not a matter of doing because you are already having fun.

Have you seen kids play with their bodies? What else is fun? One finger he will hold, sometimes his nose, sometimes his penis. And in all wonderment he will go playing, playing. I once saw, one was looking at himself in the mirror and decorating the mirror.

Would you want to call it false, yes? Don’t be so heartless! (Laughingly) Don’t be so heartless! He wasn’t decorating the false. And remember it was not even the body. It was an image of the body that he was decorating. It wasn’t false. It is so close to the Truth, you can even call it the Truth. Don’t be so heartless.

Listener 1: First thing that you said today was: “Whatever the mind loves the most, it is also most afraid of that”. Reminds me of the song: ‘Milo naa tum to ham ghabrayein, milo to aankh churayein. Hamein kya ho gaya hai?’ (If you are not there, I long for you. If you are there, I escape from you. What is happening to me?)

So, why does that happen?

AP: That happens so that you could sing.

If this is not there, how will you sing? Where will the song come from?

Exactly. That is what this whole game of Prakriti is all about—all its contradictions, its stupidities, its falsenesses—so that all of it can turn into a song. Truth is silent otherwise, so boring!

Remember once I said: “Joy is the fun of watching rubbish”. There is nothing else to watch. There is only this rubbish. But it’s great fun. So, don’t disparage it. Don’t humiliate it.

Have you seen that the songs that really touch your heart are not the ones in which the singer is acting wise? Even this one that you just now quoted, the singer is just mentioning his amusing predicament.

When you are not there, I long for you. When you are there, I escape from you. What is happening to me?’

Now, obviously, he is not stupid. Obviously, he knows that if he says this, then somebody may laugh, some wise one may come and say, “Do you see that there is a contradiction between the two statements that you are making?”

The singer knows all this, and still he is prepared to acknowledge that this is happening with him. And that is spirituality—to acknowledge that this is happening, and to not be afraid of the ‘wise’ men. They may come and say anything. They may come and say, “You are a fool. You are moving towards destruction.”, and this and that! Let them say. Everybody is moving towards ultimately a little bit of dust, some ashes, some space in the soil. Even the wisest ones were ultimately found there only. So, everybody is moving towards destruction. And I am not denying that I am moving towards destruction. But Sir, where are you going? So, it’s alright. I will be destroyed. But I will have some fun on the way, some serious fun. Worth it!

L2: Is it sufficient to ‘just know’ ? Doesn’t it require any action?

AP: You require to go to the market, get weights of twenty kilograms each, then run with them till you reach the top of the sacred hill, and there you have to feed twenty Brahmins, and then you have to come down, and you have to take a bath in the holy river, and then you have to read forty-five scriptures and write forty thousand pages of commentary, and then you have to fast for forty thousand years. (Laughter)

L2: Sir, when I am not restless, I do not require any action.

AP: You already feel you require a lot of actions. You require picking up your mobile phone, you require calling the spiritual helpline, you require going to the bank, withdrawing a lot of cash, shopping yourself crazy, feeding yourself a storm. See how much you are constantly doing.

If you are so restless about doing something, then go play! Release your energy there. Don’t just shop. Instead of pilgrimage, go to a playground. Relieve yourself. All this abundance of energy, release it. Otherwise, it becomes chaotic, neurotic, it eats you up. Then you start doing all these things —pilgrimages, running up a hill with loads, writing commentaries, attending Sunday sessions.

Playing is the only right expression of energy. Right action is always playful. When action arises from the right centre, then you don’t strive, you play.

Let your energy be expressed in playful Love.

If you come to my sessions as one comes to a lover, wonderful! But if you come here as one goes to Varanasi, then spare me!

Book of Myths

myth-for-blogThis is the most challenging book one can ever come across. It will questions all the popular beliefs one harbours. Never imposing itself on the reader, at the same time the book facilities a thorough enquiry of popular knowledge which is blindly accepted as an obvious fact. It demolishes our so called holy concepts.

If you are someone who has read anything on self-help or on spirituality this book is a must for cleaning of spiritual information.

Each one of us deserves the Truth. So, we made a conscious choice: to keep our work open for all, regardless of whether they can afford to donate.

A tremendous body of our work – around 10,000 videos, 3000 articles, and more – has been made freely available to all on the internet. Just one piece of statistic to put in perspective the magnitude of our charitable work: Around a million minutes of video content is consumed daily by our viewers on YouTube alone, absolutely for free.

This would not be possible without financial contributions from our audiences, who support our work from around the world.

We have upheld our independence in the face of the disintegration of genuine spirituality – with more and more contemporary spiritual content being just disguised commercialism, consumptionism, and egoism. We refuse to belong to any lineage or tradition, we refuse to identify with any ideology or community, nor do we pander to base sentiments to gain followership or financial assistance. This enables us to freely say the truth without inhibition.

Your financial support has meant we can continue to keep bringing you the truth and the undiluted essence of the scriptures. You have supported our independence, and we are grateful.
