The scripture’s final aim is to bring you to the living scripture

Where the light is, there the lamp is.

The Self and the Ego are not the two ends of duality. It’s non-duality talking to duality.

That is what happens when a teacher exposes the falseness of one’s existing religion. When the teacher exposes the falseness of one’s existing motivations! The teacher says you know, the route that you are taking will lead you deeper into darkness. And what is the immediate conclusion that the mind draws? The mind says, he does not want me to go there, it means that he wants me to come to him. He is telling me that all those shops are false. And that surely proves that he wants me to come to his own shop. That is a quick suspicion, rather conclusion, that the mind jumps into.

You will not have your lamp, where your forefathers found their lamp. You will have to find your lamp using your own eyes. And the only mark of lamp is, Light. Don’t disregard the Light. The Light is the only proof of the lamp.

Searching for Truth, but in the wrong way, and at the wrong places, and from the wrong center. That is what the ego does. It wants light. The ego too wants light. But it won’t get it.

The scripture’s final aim is to bring you to the living scripture.

You are a man of patterns

You are a man of mind. You are a man of reactions. You are a man of patterns. Who wants to talk to such a man?

An ordinary man in the name of learning from failures, Just tries to react differently. The second time a similar situation arises. And this he labels as learning from failure.

Zen is your essential core that reacts not, that it’s his own master. Has it’s own way of living.

Two or three years are needed so that all the pre-existing answers get clear. Not that the new answer is needed but the old answer need to go.

The more you think about love, the more you remain just a thinker.

The more you think about love, the more you remain just a thinker.

Is love a product of thought? Will more and more thinking bring you to love? Chances are, it may actually block love. Thought, by nature is insecure and aims at self-preservation. Love by nature is care-free and does not bother for security. These two just do not go together. Why don’t you see? The very function of thought is to maintain the status quo. Thought can aim at superficial change, peripheral change but it would always maintain the center it springs from. Thought is never going to challenge its own center. And the center of all thought is the ‘I’ feeling, the ego. That’s where the thoughts spring from.

The nature of love is to go against the ‘I’ feeling. The nature of love is to challenge the ‘I’ feeling, the very validity of it, the very presumptuousness contained in saying ‘I’; Love challenges that. Love not only challenges it, love actually mocks it, laughs at it.

Spirituality is not an isolated activity

The distinction between spiritual life and worldly life is a false distinction. That which is called as Truth is not to be attained in isolation or abstraction. It is found in the middle of life, not in the middle of some special spiritual life, but in the middle of our everyday life.

Spirituality is not an isolated activity. You do not say that these are the things that I do and then the next thing that I am engaged in is, spirituality. If you do not do what you are doing, then how will you ever come to the facts of what you believe yourself to be.

Spirituality is not morality, it is not a set of commandments, it is never instructive. It does not tell you, do this or do that. And if you are ever told that in the name of self-inquiry or spiritual progress, then just be very cautious, it must be somebody who doesn’t understand.

Your condition at this moment is the sum total and complete representation of all your life, not only this life of the past 30 or 50 years, but your entire evolutionary life as well. What you are, this moment is a total expression of the collective flow of the whole stream, the whole evolutionary process, for each of us. Now, why do we need to go elsewhere and read a book? Here is the book, our life is the book, so close and so unavoidable.

An accidental seeker and a true seeker

That is the distinction between an accidental seeker and a true seeker: an accidental seeker can be made to listen through a foreign influence.

It is the influence of this beautiful environment, my presence that you might be listening right now. But would you be listening after I am gone?

The true seeker listens under all conditions because his seeking is his own. The accidental seeker listens only when

The accidental seeker listens only when made to listen. Only when the situations are

Only when the situations are favourable. As long as the situation are favourable, you look towards me, you try to look towards the truth and whenever the situations offer you a little slack, then you run away. Then you do all kinds of things that you cannot do in front of me.

Go, open the door!

Your friend is in your home, you believe he is not there. Since you believe he is not there, so you switch off all the lights, lock the house and go out looking for him. Now, what will happen? Will you ever find him? When you go out looking for that which is already in your home, you have guaranteed that you will continue searching.

So, never begin with a flawed assumption. Never.

That’s what all the meditators are doing—Locking up peace in the house, switching off all the lights, bolting from the outside, instructing the guard to shoot anyone who tries to go in or get out. And then they have gone all over the place looking for the friend. “Where is He? Where is He? God! God! We can’t get you, God! God the unreachable, God the unknowable, God the unthinkable, God the unnamable.”

He is sitting in your home. Go, open the door!

‘You’ are unnecessary

‘You’ are unnecessary. ‘You’ are unnecessarily here.‘You’ are not needed.

Just get out!

Your entire system is so beautiful and self-sufficient, it knows what to do.

Why are ‘you’ interfering?

The eyes, the nose, the mind, the intellect, they all know their respective functions. When ‘you’ leave them alone, they are so happy. The memory knows how to operate; the mind knows how to think. They all know what to do.

Why are ‘you’ worried? Why can’t ‘you’ just relax?

Give yourself freedom and see how beautifully the entire thing operates.

You will walk, you will talk, you will read, you will do everything.

And you will find that it is happening so nicely, when you are allowing it to happen, without ‘you’.

Do you think sitting still for ten minutes is meditation?

Do you think sitting still for ten minutes is meditation?

No. One has to be still for twenty-four hours—that is meditation.

And if you have to be still for twenty-four hours, then you have to be surrendered to the Truth, twenty-four hours.

This twenty-hours surrender is meditation.

The Truth is twenty-four hours. The Truth will continuously guide you about the Right action. This guidance is meditation, and the Right action is meditation.

And for that, you need not do anything, because your doing itself is arrogance.

You have to stop putting your energies into the doing.

And you have to pray to get the inspiration to stop putting your energies in that foolish direction.

Meditation is nothing but a cessation,

cessation of what you have been doing and

who you are.

What is meant by Swadharma?

Swadharma is to know what your location is, and hence what is the direct route from your location to the destination. And only you can know that. You see, if you want to come to me and you are sitting there, you’ll have to take one route to come to me. And then, if you are sitting in a different direction, you’ll have to take another route to come to me.

Even if the destination is the same, the route taken will depend on your location. That is Swadharma.

Swadharma does not mean that you have a particular brand of religion. Swadharma does not mean that you have a particular concept of religion. In fact, to the contrary, Swadharm means – you have no definite religion; you have complete flexibility; you have complete dynamic freedom.

And only in this freedom is it possible to return to the Centre.

Meditation is nothing but a cessation

Meditation is a huge myth. Given what you are, you will continue doing what you are, even when you are meditating. Your act of meditation will be as per what you are, because you are the one who decided to meditate.

Meditation is your decision, so you are bigger than meditation. Even in the act of meditation, you will continue to be. You will continue to be, and the same patterns that exist otherwise, will exist, may be in changed forms, but will exist even during the process of meditation.

Meditation is not about sitting in a particular posture and trying to do something for ten, twenty, thirty minutes per day. All that is just an escape from the daily routine. All that just guarantees that you go back to your daily routine. In fact that is what you do, right?

You say, “Let me meditate and now let me get on with my routine”. So you are saying that let the routine continue, along with the meditation. No, that is not meditation.

But because real meditation is so disruptive, hence we do not want to look at it. Hence there is an abundance of teachers who keep teaching all these shortcuts in the name of meditation.

Real meditation requires your complete surrender; complete and continuous.
It is twenty-four hours surrender.
That is meditation.

The very structure of the mind must change. The arrogant mind must be able to look at its arrogance, and drop it – that is meditation and for that, you need not do anything, because your doing itself is arrogance. You have to stop putting your energies into the doing. And you have to pray to get the inspiration to stop putting your energies in that foolish direction.

Meditation is nothing but a cessation.

Cessation of what you have been doing and who you are.

That is meditation.

Do you understand the arrogance contained in the methods of meditation?

What is the final point that one wants to reach in meditation?

What you want is Peace, right?

What you want is Peace. Now Peace cannot be the outcome of a ten minutes or forty minutes daily process, because the process is decided by you and adhered-to by you. So you are bigger than the process.

And Peace is bigger than you.

Whatever you choose will never bring you to Peace. Only Peace can bring you to Peace.

When you adopt a method of meditation, what you are saying is, “I will reach Peace using my methods”. You are saying, “I am the smart enough to reach the Truth, using my own road”. You are not willing to surrender. You are not saying, “Let the Truth decide, how I will reach the Truth. I will just surrender!

Do you understand the arrogance contained in methods of meditation?

You are saying, “I am choosing this method”, even if on the advice of somebody. “I am choosing this method. And this method will take me to Peace and Truth”. You are saying, “I am choosing this particular method, and this method will take me to Peace and Truth”.

Your methods cannot take you to Peace and Truth.

The Truth comes first and the Truth is eternal. The Truth is twenty-four hours.
The Truth will continuously guide you about the Right action.

This guidance is meditation, and the Right action is meditation.
