How to not be lonely?

The lonely fellow is the one who is always with somebody, and that somebody he is with, is always his own image. So, the lonely fellow is always surrounded, surrounded by himself. Even if he appears surrounded by others, those others are all in relation to himself. So, the lonely fellow will actually never appear lonely, he will always appear surrounded, he will always appear surrounded. In fact, he will not be bear, tolerate, to remain lonely. It is his inner obligation towards himself to remain surrounded.

You leave him not surrounded, and he will start feeling suffocated. He cannot do without his mobile phone. That is the sign of a lonely person. Always surrounded. And we repeat that the thing that surrounds him appears to be the world, but it is actually just image of himself.

And the fellow who is alone is the one who is just with the absolute. He needs no images. He is not with himself. ‘Himself’ can be the most sacred word and the most painful word at once.

The word ‘You’, the word ‘I’, the word ‘Himself’, the word ‘Self’, can point either to you as you really are, or to your shadow. When they point to you as you really are, they are called the ‘Truth’. You are then the Truth. I am then the Truth. When the word ‘I’ points to us as we really are, then ‘I’ is the Atma.

And when the word ‘I’ starts referring to my self-image, or to my shadow, or to my ego, then it is the dirtiest word. Then it is not Atma, then it is Ahanta. The word ‘I’ refers to both. The world ‘I’ can be used for both Atma and Ahanta. In the case of the lonely person ‘I’ refers to Ahanta. In the case of the fellow who lives alone ‘I’ refers to Atma.

How to really help someone? || Acharya Prashant (2016)

Sitting outside the arena, you can keep imagining intellectually that you are free. Sit, not just there, jump into the arena. And if you have jumped, from the right center, with faith, in order to help someone, then, continue to have faith. You may not be perfect, and nobody is. But with a surrender to perfection, when you enter the battle, even, while being poorly equipped; then someone else fights on your behalf. So do not wait for the day, when you will be fully liberated. You will never be fully liberated, sitting in isolation. Liberation is not something that you gain outside of yourself, outside of the relationship. Kindly, get this myth out of your head. You will not get it by breaking, by severing your bonds with the world. Yes, a little bit of solitude is necessary, but that is not the same as staying afar.

The difference between realization and escapism? || Acharya Prashant (2017)

Drop all these concepts that only the one who has tasted the world fully, only he can be spiritual. No, not at all. You can be the biggest loser and yet you can be spiritual. There is no formula in this regard. Buddha is immensely wealthy as the son of the king and Kabir & Raidas are poor people, how does it matter? One is a man let’s say Farid, the other is a woman. How does it matter? It doesn’t matter at all where you are on the circle. We have had fifteen years olds and we have Eighty years olds. We have had fifteen year old people who have been said to be realized and we have Lao Tzu who was said to be eighty four when he was born. How does it matter? Wherever you are located in the world, you can always move to the center.

The only right answer to all real questions || Acharya Prashant (2016)

The dog and the Buddha are one but not as long as the dog insists on being a dog. As long as you insist on being what you stand for, what you are attached to, what you are identified with, of course there is no possibility of Buddha nature. The Buddha nature will remain present but yet appear absent, and that is the great Maya.

You know what Maya is? That which prevents the present from being seen. And that which makes you see that which is not! These are the two things that Maya does. You start looking at yourself as someone who is not. And you start forgetting the one that you really are, that is Maya.

Liberation is nothing but your ‘yes’ to Liberation ||

Why don’t you come to the sessions? “Umm… you know, I don’t have time.” So you probe and you say, “No I see that your calendar is very much vacant on the Sunday mornings. You can come, 9:30 is just the right time and you can arrive there.”

“No, no I have no vehicle.”

“Okay fine, you can come with me. I’ll give you a ride.”

“No actually, I have no money.”

“But the sessions are free of cost. You can come.”

“No actually, you know, I…uh…”

“What?”

“I just don’t feel like. Okay! And don’t bug me further!”

So there is no real reason. Just as saying yes is reasonless, actually our no’s are also reasonless. Finally the reason is just that…? “I don’t feel like.” And that is one’s primitive ego tendency. One’s primitive ego tendency! The little bit reason.
