The mind is not your own

Are we sure our thoughts are our thoughts? We invest really really so much in them. We talked of a case where a family was being disturbed because of ideology. That was just a starter. How about all the families that have started on the basis of ideology? Is that not a bigger tragedy? If disrupting a family based on ideology is tragic, is it not even more tragic to begin a family based on ideology? Is the family itself not an ideology? Yes?

And we invest ourselves so much in everything that is born out of thought. To a vast majority of human beings, what is a religion, except an ideology? To a vast majority of human beings is religion a relentless dive into the Truth? Is it? Or, is it about pursuing ideals, myths, codes of conduct, stories, thoughts? And don’t we give ourselves up to religion?

I am not only talking of established religions. I am also talking of the previlant religions that have not been so far accepted as religious religions. I am talking of greed, I am talking of career, I am talking of progress, I am talking of knowledgeability. One question – Had we not been told what to do, what could we have done? Now, don’t dismiss it as naive or childish, it’s an extremely important question.

The more you search, the more you will not find

Whatever you are feeding to yourself, you have fed it a thousand times earlier. So, it cannot remove your boredom.

You have seen the movie a thousand times earlier, the name of the movie might have changed. Apparently, the story line has also changed. But, it’s the same thing -same attraction, same violence, same suspense, same murder, same killing. Alright! Different names of the characters. Alright! Different faces of the characters. But the fundamentals are the same, the hard-wiring is the same. So, even if you watch a fresh movie, a so called fresh movie, you still emerge from the theater, long faced and bored. There is no freshness in it. The same old drama, attraction, repulsion, coming close, going away, anxiety, happiness, sadness, relief, responsibilities, obligations, pressure, revolt; Same things!

Because my system is the same!

How to get rid of addictions? || Acharya Prashant (2016)

Do drugs come, and insert themselves in your mouth? Does the cigarette, unwrap the pack, rise itself and comes to kiss your lips? Or do you go and buy the cigarettes? The cigarette does not buy itself. Who is the buyer of the cigarette, why not talk about him? It’s not smoking that you want to quit, you want to quit that mental state that necessitates smoking. And if that mental state keeps coming, you will continue to smoke. But you will never talk about that mental state because that mental state is related to “I” and our entire lifestyle.
