Basic definitions of Awareness, Attention, Understanding, and Intelligence || Acharya Prashant (2015)

Awareness is the highest point of consciousness.

Awareness is when you are so acutely aware that there is left nothing to be conscious of, and there is nobody left who can be conscious.

What is karma? Does the subconscious exist? || Acharya Prashant (2016)

Be totally free of the past, and have no eye on the future. Which means that now you get all the freedom to play around with past and future. Because they are meaningless to you, they are harmless, they are like jokes now. So you can indulge in them. That’s the great thing about not wanting anything—when you don’t want anything, you can play around with everything.

The one who has no stake in the past, can now go into memories, wallow in memories, bathe in memories, and study all history, without getting influenced. And the one who has no expectations, or fear from the future, can now speculate, project, imagine, without letting the future overwhelm him.

Only the one who is deeply surrendered to the present, gets the rights to be the master of the past and the future.

On Lao Tzu: The Real will never be something that you can be conscious of || Acharya Prashant (2016)

Spare the real.

The real will happen on its own.

It is already happening.

Take care of the peripherals. Let the mind be involved in the small matters of life.

When the mind starts thinking about the essential, then the mind reduces the essential to a mental concept.

In small matters of life, be as clever and calculative as you want to be; only in the small matters.

In everything that really matters, live by the heart—Do not calculate, do not be so clever; let innocence decide for you.

Remaining untouched by all states of consciousness || Acharya Prashant (2015)

When someone tells you that “You should look after your future”, he says this as if he is a lover, but what is he really communicating to you?

He is communicating to you that you are a person limited in time and space – who started with a birth, is going to have a future and then is going to die.

One has to guard against such thoughts and such thoughts can enter the mind only in a disguised way, they wear masks.

Insecurity enters you wearing the mask of love. Fear enters you wearing the mask of care. Body centricity enters you wearing some other mask.

Spiritual practice lies in seeing beyond the mask.
