What is moodiness? || Acharya Prashant (2014)

Our moodiness is just our deep dependency, deep slavery. But there is another way of living. Want to know of that? That is, when whatever is happening, is happening only on the surface. Deep within myself, I find a point that no external situation can touch. A very deep, silent and composed point.

So you tell me a joke, I laugh. I laugh but that point within me will remain untouched. A very sad event has taken place, I will cry. I will cry but that point in me will not cry. That will remain stable, uninvolved, a non – participant. Then it is alright. If you can have that point within you which — in no situation, no happening, no voice, no sight — nothing can touch, then it is alright.

How to relate better to one’s wife?

Truth is the most available and the most immediate. If you cannot respect Truth because it is available and immediate, then you cannot respect your friend or your wife either.

Truth is so immediate that it does not go away even for a split second. Truth is closer to you, than anything or anybody else. That is why a man, who is not spiritual, cannot have any real relationship. And if there is distaste in your relationships, you must know that there is something lacking in your spirituality.

Don’t suppress. Just understand || Acharya Prashant (2014)

Drop this approach that something needs to be controlled. Nothing needs to be controlled; it is all fine, good, alright. Nothing needs to be controlled. You only need to understand, not control.

Understand, not control.
The urge to control comes from a moralistic mind. It comes from a violent mind. It comes from a mind that has already been tutored that something is good and something is bad, something needs to be controlled. Nothing needs to be controlled. Everything is alright. There is nothing in existence which needs to be controlled.

Everything just needs to be? Understood.

And to understand something, you need to be friends with it.

Why is man so curious? || Acharya Prashant (2016)

There is nothing here to be known. What we call as knowing is just a burden upon the mind. Man and specially man today, needs an unburdening; not more burdening. Any kind of knowledge, not only material, not only scientific but even spiritual knowledge is an added load upon the mind. For it is a thought; for it is a concept; for it is a verbalization – it has to be remembered. It sits on the mind. It takes a space, a corner, a fraction of your space. And there is already so much there, it is so crowded.
