Will donating my body parts help me in the afterlife? || Acharya Prashant (2014)

Thought cuts you away from reality. Presence brings you to the real. Sitting on these chair is not sufficient. Presence is an entirely different thing and presence doesn’t mean again that you are analyzing comparing what I am saying with something else. Presence doesn’t mean that you are thinking about it, you are dissecting it. Presence means just being, and that is just being fully alive, one with the happening, undivided.

Is there a thing as free will? || Acharya Prashant (2016)

Concentration will come as a very strong mark on the memory. If you are concentrating on something, it will be imprinted in very bold ways on the memory.

Attention will come like a gap in the memory.
If you are really here, you will forget my words. If you are really here, you will forget my presence. If you are really here, you will forget that I am a body. Then, there is attention and that is a connection to the divine. Now, you are not connecting to a man, a body. Now you are not hearing words, now you are listening. Now you are not connected to somebody outside of you. Now you are connected to to your heart, and that is attention.

I request you, please forget everything that I say. None of this is to be memorized.

The scriptures talk of falseness, rather than the Truth || Acharya Prashant (2016)

These two, are often suggested, must go together: having faith in the words of the Teacher, Guru , preceptor, guide, whatever you want to call, having faith there and a parallel, simultaneous direct observation. Actually, both of these are just the same. Given that the Guru is fundamentally your own vision, your Self, the pure Self, hence, it the Guru who enables you to understand the scriptures and who also powers your eyes to look directly at your own life.
These are like two wings of a bird. Support of an external Guru or scripture and your own independent observation. When both are fully functional, then you really take off. One should not miss out on any of these

Is our life destined and pre-planned || Acahrya Prashant (2016)

Destiny and planning are not the same thing. Nothing is pre-planned. You can proceed as per your planning but if your planning is not in sync with the destiny, then your plans will only give you more suffering. You are free to do whatever to do. You can go right, you can go left. But if you must go right, and you go left, then going left, you will keep suffering.

You can never avoid, escape, or be free from the mind || Acharya Prashant (2016)

Question: How to escape mind?

Acharya Prashant: You will never be able to escape mind.

Never.

In fact, all these things – freedom from the mind, escape from the mind – are touted in the spiritual market but they all are very fantastic nonsense. Read more…

How can there be freedom from the mind? What do you mean? Who will get freedom from the mind? The soul? The Self? The Atman? Do you mean to say that the Atman was, at some point, chained, enslaved, and now it will get freedom?

What do you mean by freedom from the mind? As if there is something that the mind has captured and then, there is some agency which will go and liberate that.

But ‘freedom from the mind’ is such a widespread phrase. When you say, ‘freedom from the mind,’ who will be free?

The mind itself.

So, just say, ‘Free mind’. And a free mind means free of itself, which means no-mind then. Who is there to enslave the mind except for the mind! So, what do you mean by a free mind? Who was enslaving the mind in the first place?

Listeners: Mind

Was the Self coming to enslave the mind? There is only the mind and the Self. When you say freedom from the mind, would the Self be liberated? When you say, ‘A free mind’, do you mean that the Self was trying to enslave the mind?

The mind itself is the slavery.

There is nothing called the freedom of the mind, from the mind, for the mind. Nothing.
