We will do a small experiment right now. You all will start thinking about your ambitions. Does along with ambition come the thought of possible
You have to be careful of every single, small decision that you are making. When these small, small decisions will be alright, then your so-called big decisions will also fall into place. But what do want? We say, “The small decisions can continue as they are but I want the big decisions to be taken care of”. This is impossible.
Do not ignore the small things because everything is a small thing. Do not ignore. Do not say, “Placement matters, but small unit tests do not matter.” They matter. The one who will sit in the placement is the same one who is not writing the unit test. Or is he a different fellow?…
IIT and IIM should be things that empower you, not degrees or facts that become millstones around your neck. Coming from an IIT one should be more free, not less. Coming from an IIM one should be more fearless, not less. But the opposite happens.
Coming from an IIT you say, “Because I am an IIT-ian, how can I do anything else?” Is it not? If whatever I did does not empower me then what is the point in doing all that? You look at a man who is illiterate, a man who does not have any power, or knowledge, or realization. This man will be under compulsion to do what the society tells him to do. Is that not so?
After gaining all the knowledge, after reading the wisdom literature, after seeing a few things, if I am still bound by the society, then what is the point in taking that education?
Can you remember this: “I do not know my own good, so I cannot desire my own good. Existence knows what is good for me. So it sends me the sun, it has given me the capacity to love and understand. There is a bigger power, a totality that knows what is best for me. And let that bigger power, let that totality decide what is good for me. I should not look after myself because I cannot look after myself and if I try to look after myself I will only do myself harm. If I do not want to harm myself then I should not have this stupid belief in my expectations.”
What is guilt? Does it facilitate, or hinder spiritual growth?
‘Spiritual growth’ only means ‘spiritual dissolution’. Nothing grows. All growth is that of the ego. Only the ego grows, accumulates, becomes larger.
Guilt is a very un-spiritual growth. It is like accumulation of money, or disease, or contacts, or knowledge. It is not spiritual at all.
When you are with a beautiful flower, do you really feel like counting its various biological parts? Have you done that? When you are with a beautiful flower, do you feel like estimating the wavelength of its colour. Do you do that? But if you have problems with it…
