Seated already on the mountain top, why suffer dreams of climbing || Acharya Prashant (2015)

Seen anybody who wants anything except Peace?

Even when you are chasing excitement, you are chasing Peace through excitement. Even when you are being violent, you want Peace through violence.

Ultimately you want nothing except Peace.

Would it not be then foolish to say that you do not know Peace? Had you not known it, how could it have been echoing inside you constantly?

Not only do you know it, you remember it without break. It is a continuous music, an incessant resonance within you. You don’t even need reminders.

Even when you are lost, you are already Home

Truth is the beginning and finality in which you are always located even when you are thinking that you are away from the Truth. Truth is that which you are even when you are totally committed to the false.

Deep peace is what we are even when we are totally restless. Complete understanding is what we are even when we are identified with ignorance.

You can never reach the Truth because you are never outside the Truth. Home cannot be a destination. Home is where you always are. You don’t have a choice there. Inexorably, inevitably you are there.

How does one stay calm? || Acharya Prashant (2015)

IIT and IIM should be things that empower you, not degrees or facts that become millstones around your neck. Coming from an IIT one should be more free, not less. Coming from an IIM one should be more fearless, not less. But the opposite happens.

Coming from an IIT you say, “Because I am an IIT-ian, how can I do anything else?” Is it not? If whatever I did does not empower me then what is the point in doing all that? You look at a man who is illiterate, a man who does not have any power, or knowledge, or realization. This man will be under compulsion to do what the society tells him to do. Is that not so?

After gaining all the knowledge, after reading the wisdom literature, after seeing a few things, if I am still bound by the society, then what is the point in taking that education?

Why can’t I stop cheating myself? || Acharya Prashant (2015)

Pleasure thrives only when you do not understand it. It gets its sustenance from darkness. You don’t want to kill it; you just want to know it. And to know it, you throw some light upon it and you find that the pleasure is gone. Try that! Next time when you are drawing pleasure from something or somebody or some action, stop and look at it. No, you don’t have to condemn it, not justify it. Just look at it. Look at it and you may find that pleasure is no more.
